FELIX + STONE FESTIVE FAVES

Tis the season to eat, drink, and be merry. After what has been a turbulent 2020, many of us are more than ready to let our hair down and enjoy the festivities.

We thought we’d share our fave Xmas movies and a sneaky cocktail (or mocktail) recipe with you, alongside some last-minute gift ideas - even one you can buy on Christmas Day!

What We’re Watching

In the lead up to Christmas Day, we love filling our screens with one of the many (and there really are so many) festive feature films available to stream online!

We’re sharing with you our personal faves - let us know what yours are?

For the Family:

The Christmas Chronicles
Kurt Russel makes a hilariously authentic Santa in this magical journey. The elves are especially cute. Definitely worth watching if you haven’t yet

The Polar Express
Packed with underlying messages of kindness, courage, leadership and friendship - The Polar Express is considered a “classic” by many. Maybe not ideal for your younger children, but that’ll come down to personal preference!
The Grinch
A long time favourite, with multiple versions available to watch. Netflix has both the more recent, animated version as well as Jim Careys live-action Grinch available to watch, so take your pick.

A few others that deserve a mention - Jingle Jangle (like The Greatest Showman, but with magic and Christmas), Arthur Christmas, Klaus, and of course - Home Alone.

For a Laugh:

Elf
Silly, yet hilarious, Will Ferrell is cast perfectly as a totally clueless Elf in the ‘human’ world

The Night Before
A great laugh, this one stars Seth Rogen and covers a group of men on a “Hangover” style adventure on Christmas Eve. Not for the kids!

Chick Flicks:

Who doesn’t love a sneaky chick flick at Christmas?

Love Actually
This 2004 film became an instant Christmas hit, becoming a tradition in many households. A bunch of love stories with a bit of a giggle, it’s a forever favourite of ours here at FELIX + STONE HQ.
A Bad Moms Christmas
Bad Moms have had us in stitches with their first movie, and the Christmas sequel is just as good. Put your feet up and enjoy this relatable, festive-themed laugh!

What We’re Drinking

Impress your guests with a fancy-schmancy beverage - alcoholic or not - this Christmas.

Frosé Recipe: Makes approx. 6 drinks

You will need:

1x bottle of sweet bubbly wine such as Moscato or Rosé OR
1x bottle of sparkling white grape juice [non-alcoholic version]
Approx 6 cups of frozen berries - choose your fave
A lemon, white sugar and sliced strawberries to garnish

This is a super quick and easy way to make a drink that’s sure to impress.

Before you start, pour a little white sugar into a shallow saucer. Take a slice of lemon and rub it around the rim of your glass. Dip the moistened rim into the saucer of sugar and gently twist it around before lifting out. Repeat with all other glasses.

Place frozen berries into your blender
Pour the bottle of wine or grape juice over berries
Hit that blend button, baby!
You should end up with a nice pink slushy. Carefully pour into your sugar-rimmed glasses and top with sliced strawberries to serve.
Enjoy!
